RISK ASSESSMENTS
Our reliance on and need to protect critical infrastructure only increases with time. Furthermore, because of the increase in technological dependencies and cross-sector dependencies, disruption in one sector is highly likely to introduce cascading effects on other sectors. Our risk assessments help you understand what core capabilities will be tested across all sectors in the community.
We evaluate every critical infrastructure site as the first line of threat prevention and defense. Critical infrastructure threat resilience begins with that asset's ability to deter threat activities and having a clear plan of action against the impact of direct and indirect threat activities. The harder the target, the safer the community is. Each critical infrastructure site should have prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery core capabilities aligned with the latest threat analysis.

Risk assessments are thorough and take into account the unique characteristics of the community. We focus on gathering as much information as possible for every critical infrastructure sector site in the assessment. The best way to do that is through a collaborative effort with critical infrastructure owners and operators, and emergency preparedness professionals. As stated earlier, our job is to uncover what you don't already know, and give voice and greater context to what you do know.

Threat scenarios are key to the risk assessment process. Scenarios take into account, multiple events occurring at the same time, multiple critical infrastructure sectors targeted simultaneously, and variances in time duration. Integrating scenarios into the risk assessments allow us to imagine the worst cases and prepare for them. There will always be exposure to unpredictable "black swan" events. However, collaborative, scenario-driven risk assessments coupled with a strong understanding of the threats we face is the most effective way to prepare.
